The setup is a two step process.

The spot position tracking system uses the OK and Help messages from a spot tracker. These are delivered by email to the server and stored in a database.

The position information can also be pulled from a public shared page. This requires additional configuration, but does support the optional tracking mode ans well as the OK and Help modes.

Once the position information is in the database it can be reported upon by the map and track pages.

findmespot.com

To get a new Spot to show up on the display it must be configured to send the Help and OK messages by email to spot@xinqu.net. This is set up when you register the Spot and can be changed on the Spot website.

When you have set up your SPOT, paid for the service etc, go the the messenger profile for your SPOT.

Update the messenger profile to add an email address for both the OK and Help messages. The address to use is spot@xinqu.net.

Shared page

This is optional. Using a shared page puts extra load on the servers, and has greater delays than using email delivery. To get a new Spot to show up on the display it must be configured to have a public shared page. This is set up when you register the Spot and can be changed on the Spot website.

When you have set up your SPOT, paid for the service etc, click on the 'Share' tab and set up a public share page. When you have created to page, click on the link to the page. You will need to note the 33 character string after 'glid=' on the end of the URL.

map.xinqu.net

For a customised display with glider registration, pilot name, etc you can edit the database on map.xinqu.net. You need to know the Spot ESN which is on a label in the battery compartment of the Spot. Add your details and your Spot ESN to the database.

For shared page mode you must enter the 'glid=' string. To avoid errors it is best to cut and paste the string between the shared page and the database. If you're not using a shared page just leave the field blank.

If you make an error the the entry of the ESN, you will not be able to correct it. You must delete the incorrect ESN entry and make a new entry.
